A man who was charged for injuring two men who attempted to rob him will come before the court on February 27, 2014.
According to the court, in 2006 Antoine McFarlane was sitting at a local bar when one of two assailants approached him and demanded that he ‘pass it.’ McFarlane, in turn asked if he owed the man.
Shortly after this, the man allegedly attacked McFarlane, and while in the process of defending himself, another male joined and proceeded to beat him (McFarlane) up.
McFarlane said that he then ran to a nearby structure and retrieved a cutlass and began to chop the two men who subsequently fled the scene. McFarlane remained in the area.
Police later arrived and the defendant handed them the cutlass and was arrested. McFarlane stated that he did not know the two men.
They both sustained injuries to their left arms and one was injured on the back. They were treated at St. Jude’s Hospital. One was identified as Patrice Modeste.
McFarlane is now out on bail.
