A married couple was on Friday fined in the Gros Islet Magistrate’s Court for wounding a former friend with a cutlass.
Court records show that Rosana Inglis and Joseph Charles were charged with wounding Vanessa Mathurin in Cas En Bas about 5:00 pm on November 10 last year.
Mathurin was struck with a cutlass, and was wounded on the wrist and nose.
After trial on Friday, both defendants were found guilty. Inglis was fined $500 to be paid by December 31, and Charles was fined $300, payable by December 31.
The couple was also ordered to pay $350 compensation to Mathurin.
Reports are that all three persons were once friends, but stopped speaking.
On the day of the incident, Mathurin kept on inquiring why Inglis was not speaking to her. Inglis, records show, attacked Mathurin, and the fight started.
The husband, Charles, was accused of holding Mathurin during the fight.
